OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL - NORTH STRATHFIELD, NSW
Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Primary School is newly refurbished including an extension to the existing facilities building, purposely created to cater for the rapid growth of younger children in Western Sydney. Located in North Strathfield, the primary school offers learning to 450 students from kindergarten through to Grade 6.
Working closely with BVN Architects and JHA Consultants, Versalux designed and supplied a lighting solution to aesthetically enhance the education space whilst catering to the needs of collaborative learning through the utilisation of modern technology – ultimately meeting Our Lady of the Assumption’s objectives.
The INFINITI, one of Versalux most popular commercial lights due to its performance, appearance, and cost-effective design is featured prominently throughout all classrooms in Our Lady of the Assumption. The luminaire is recessed into a continuous run of timber panelled ceilings, its opalescent optic giving the classroom areas a sleek look. The INFINITI is also the fixture of choice throughout the connecting spaces, creating a homogenous design where the joinery walls extend the classrooms and form an expanded open learning space.
For each media room the INFINITI is rebated inside the ceiling’s aluminium beams, producing superb vertical illumination and horizontal uniformity, allowing the learning process to continue without interference from glare and other unwanted illumination artefacts.
The playrooms located inside each classroom feature the VENICE 7 DOWNLIGHT series, strategically installed amongst timber and white plastered ceiling. The VENICE DOWNLIGHT series features a secondary reflector system that delivers high output combined with excellent visual comfort. The colour temperature and rendition choices match with the décor to allow crisp, focused results or warm, comfortable environments as required by the nature of the space, enabling students and teachers to learn and complete tasks without battling their surroundings.
The Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Primary School project won the following three awards:
- 2016 Educational Facilities Award – Winner in Renovation Category over $2M
- 2016 Australian Interior Design Award – Best of State in Commercial
- 2016 Australian Interior Design Award – National Award for Public Design
