CARRARA INDOOR SPORTS STADIUM - GOLD COAST, QLD
The Gold Coast Sporting Leisure Centre is an innovative multi-purpose sporting facility, which received a $148 million investment by both State and Federal Government’s to host the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games for world-class athletes of the Commonwealth of Nations.
The Carrara Indoor Sports Stadium inside the Gold Coast Sports & Leisure Centre Community Hub has undergone a full refurbishment to the existing building. The upgrades feature new spectator seating, technological advancements, internal and external cladding, and a new roof.
In addition to hosting such a momentous sporting occasion, the new and vibrant Indoor Stadium’s venue is designed to attract more community and sporting events after the Commonwealth Games concludes than ever before. A significantly important sporting precinct that will assist to increase participation and facilitate physical activities for sporting communities and the general public of the City of Gold Coast.
Working in close collaboration with BVN Architects and Norman Disney & Young (NYD), Versalux decided that a range of powerful and adjustable luminaires were required. The fittings needed to be powerful, low maintenance, and deliver optimum vertical illumination to create a visually and physiologically pleasing environment for athletes and spectators alike.
The 70 MAXI CAPRI LED luminaires are designed to produced optimum lighting at critical beam angles. Its optics carefully shield the LED light source from direct viewing in all directions, an essential requirement for the varied array of sporting events held at the Carrara Indoor Sports Stadium.
A robust and durable luminaire, the MAXI CAPRI is an industrial-grade high bay constructed to meet the physical and visual demands of an Indoor Sports Stadium whilst delivering aesthetically pleasing uniformity.
The MAXI CAPRI LED’s utilised its optic system of a UV-stabilised acrylic prismatic refractor and an LED source engineered to increase vertical illumination and eliminate shadows over the 6000 square metre Indoor Stadium across its 8 multi-sport courts.
The MAXI CAPRI LED luminaires can be controlled by a DALI control system, to enhance and provide an optimal experience for spectators – as brightness levels can be adjusted through various dimmed levels between 0-100%.
Assisted by the MAXI CAPRI’s exceptional performance, television broadcasting inside the Carrara Indoor Sports Stadium now delivers a crisp and concise picture quality to attract attention, creating a theatrical experience for all sports codes.
