COOMERA INDOOR SPORTS CENTRE – GOLD COAST, QLD
Versalux Coomera Indoor Sports Centre Project profileThe $40 million Coomera Indoor Sports Centre is an important piece of community infrastructure for one of the Gold Coast’s fastest growing regions. This new multi-purpose facility accommodates a range of community facilities and indoor sports such as netball, soccer, gymnastics and basketball.
The venue has been designed to world-class competition standards with potential for elite training and competition use. Key features of the venue design include a gymnastics arena and eight mixed-use sports courts.
Working closely with Norman Disney and Young Consulting Engineers, Brisabane-Peddle Thorp Architects and BDA Architecture, Versalux provided the lighting solution for the ball court areas. The lighting solution involved using DALI dimmable CLO MAXI CAPRI 320 with specialised heat sink designed to ensure longevity of LED chips and drivers with high lumen package but low glare to assist upward viewing for all sports. Good Vertical Illumination and uniformity was paramount for assistance for TV Camera’s and Low Brightness for spectators and athletes. This venue will host the Commonwealth Games 2018 gymnastics and netball competition.
