The Gymnastics Centre sits on 430 hectares of parkland and caters to a wide variety of skill levels, from children to adults, amateur to professional, and offers an array of premium equipment from bars, beams trampolines, rings and an open foam pit.

Versalux collaborated with Tempo, Webb Australia and Sydney Olympic Park Authority to implement industry-leading lighting systems tailored for the refurbished gymnasium, ensuring that athletes of all levels and ages could participate in a variety of sporting activities and training sessions that would have a positive effect on their success in a uniform and low-glare atmosphere, resulting in a highly satisfactory outcome for all gymnasium users.

The flagship MAXI CAPRI series, an industry-leading high bay luminaire designed to perform superlatively in both sports & recreation and industrial settings, was chosen for the gymnastics centre to meet the physical and visual demands of the facility on the basis of its superior performance, technological excellence, and durability. The lighting system is strategically suspended from the Gymnastics Centre’s ceiling layout delivering a combination of visual comfort, energy efficiency, and glare control to provide continuous and uninterrupted illumination in the setting.

In the refurbished gym hall, the architecture is characterised by straight lines and minimalistic colours. The MAXI CAPRI series, a renowned workhorse, works well in combination with natural light, an important factor for players who need to be engaged and concentrate for both short and long training sessions. The MAXI CAPRI’s unique optic features a combination of a proprietary acrylic prismatic refractor, a specialised multi-stage reflector and high performance LED light source, combined and designed to deliver vertical illumination and maximum visual comfort.

The MAXI CAPRI’s high visual comfort factor creates the optimum environment for reducing the risk of eye strain, skill errors and injuries. An even distribution of illumination and excellent visibility always allows athletes in fast paced gymnastics setting to be aware of their surroundings. The seating area on the second floor of the premium gymnastics’ facility allows families, coaches, and general spectators to enjoy amateur and local competitive sporting events.
