Herston Quarter – Herston, Queensland
The Herston Quarter Redevelopment is a new world-class health & well-being precinct located in the inner northern Brisbane suburb of Herston, Queensland. The redevelopment is a 1.1 billion transformation has restored and reinvigorated the existing heritage precinct and delivered new private hospital, aged care, and retirement facilities for the community.
Versalux, Fredon, Watpac, and Integral Group worked closely to transform Herston Quarter; Versalux was briefed to design a high quality lighting system for the exterior landscape and movement zones. The entire pedestrian system for the complex’s exterior needed to be easily accessible for all users and provide a memorable impression that was both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
The Herston Quarter Redevelopment required a superior design and high quality luminaire choice. Blending into and complementing the geometric aesthetic, the DOOKU series of pole and wall mounted luminaires have been carefully laid out in an arrangement designed to effectively illuminate the exterior with ease. Offering multiple sizes, outputs, mounting configurations, and beams spreads, DOOKU luminaires were a superb solution for the precinct illumination, also delivering benefits in durability and corrosion resistance with their IP65 IK09 aluminium construction to withstand inevitable harsh weather conditions.
To generate interest and engage visitors, connect people, and make use of the precinct and its offerings in a glare free environment, the DOOKU luminaires provide a uniform light distribution of high levels of vertical and horizontal illumination. Day or night, the stylish design of DOOKU brings personality and modern aesthetic to the precinct.
The illumination of the DOOKU fixtures accentuate the buildings to striking effect, and complement the architectural design of the Herston Quarter, working in tandem with architectural lighting effects between benches, entrances, and the pathways in the open outdoor space for a safe and secure environment.
