The Environmental Services Centre was created to service the Mount Barker district as a permanent facility hub for workshops, events storage and shared amenities. Accessible for all users of the community of Mount Barker, the investment of $1.2M meant a permanent facility was made available for members working on community projects such as repairs & maintenance, as well as job seekers wishing to obtain work experience.

Beyond Ink partnered with Versalux to utilise our skills and experience to realise a creative interior and exterior lighting solution for the Mount Barker Council. The town of Mount Barker is set to benefit from the result long into the future because the elegance of the lighting design ensures that the luminaires will remain timeless for decades to come. To maximise the investment, the newly built centre demanded high-quality, long-lasting luminaires. The aesthetically appealing solution used advanced technology to illuminate the entire interior of the commercial spaces in the breakout rooms, offices and conference areas. Outside, the building surrounds and developing landscaping are revealed by striking illumination. The fresh and inviting result draws in an increasing number of residents and visitors to the hub for educational, environmental and social purposes.

In the function areas Infiniti luminaires are arranged in continuous rows, recessed into the raked timber ceiling structures to draw they eye to the distance and emphasise the stunning lines of the space. The aesthetics and technological performance of the Infiniti luminaires have transformed the room into a focal point. Minimalistic in nature, the illumination can be adapted and tailored to suit the needs of the users and the space.

Infiniti luminaires work in tandem with large windows to complement the abundant natural daylight for a superlative environment. The low glare optics of the Infiniti enables all members to communicate easily in a well-balanced environment.

Office areas are fitted with special high-performance Asti LED panels in a symmetrical configuration. The décor complements the workstations to create an unforgettable impression. Asti luminaires are of exceptional quality, providing optimum vertical and horizontal illumination to support excellent visual communication between members as they interact to complete group work, or work on tasks individually in a peaceful atmosphere without interference of glare.

The exterior eaves of the commercial building are lined and fitted with Perseo luminaires. Made of durable aluminium materials with an IP65 impact-resistant rating, Perseo is extremely well protected against dust and moisture to preserve a clean, longer-lasting luminaire. The Perseo luminaires create a favourable atmosphere, showcasing the environment and architecture of the building. These Perseo wall mounted floodlights accentuate the pathways, serving as a key navigation point for pedestrians throughout the night.

The Chiara series in-ground uplights reinforce the aesthetics of the commercial building with homogenous illumination. Extremely low profile for simplified building engineering, the Chiara luminaires complement the Perseo floodlight luminaires, helping to accentuate the structural design and create spectacular night-time illumination effects. Simultaneously the Chiara luminaires are used for visual aids to navigation of the walkways and for safety and security of visitors and investments.

Rounding out the external building illumination, the sturdy Midna creates a statement with its bold rectangular shape and low-glare direct/indirect illumination. Through the trio of Midna, Perseo, and Chiara the exterior of the building is transformed at night, accentuating the characteristics of the façade and acting as a welcoming beacon for visitors arriving from the Luna illuminated car parks, culminating in an attractive and secure environment linking the building together as a central facility.
